Senior Linux Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Linux-based systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

  • Develop and manage automation scripts and playbooks using Bash, Ansible, and other configuration management tools.

  • Perform system hardening, implement SELinux policies, and enforce security baselines in line with compliance requirements.

  • Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and root cause analysis for system-related issues.

  • Manage patching, updates, and kernel configurations while ensuring minimal downtime and system stability.

  • Support Linux-based application hosting environments and integrate with enterprise storage and networking.

  • Work with DevOps, cloud, and security teams to support hybrid deployments and secure system integrations.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and policies.

  • Provide Tier 3 support for escalated incidents and mentor junior Linux engineers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience managing Linux systems in enterprise environments.

  • Expertise in:

    • RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu

    • Ansible (automation & configuration management)

    • Bash scripting

    • SELinux and system security configurations

  • Strong knowledge of system hardening, performance tuning, and Linux networking.

Preferred Certifications:

  • RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)

  • LPIC-2 (Linux Professional Institute Certification)

  • Or equivalent Linux system engineering certifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with enterprise-level Linux deployments, clustered environments, and hybrid cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, etc.).

  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Podman) and orchestration platforms ( Kubernetes) is a plus.

  • Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana) and logging systems
